About Paul

Paul Cecchetti is an award-winning composer and musician specializing in music for multimedia. His music spans Classical, Jazz, Pop/Rock, Electronic and the Avant-garde.

Born in the West of Ireland, he received his first musical training at the age of 6, learning to play traditional Irish music. Later, he studied classical music with Deirdre Lynn and Jazz with Anthony McNamee.

His first experience writing music was composing rock songs for bands he was in throughout his teenage years. He began to gravitate towards classical composition, and by the age of 18, he had completed his first large orchestral work- the Piano Concerto in E Major.

Having developed a keen interest in the performance and composition of music of all kinds, he began studying music at the National University of Ireland, where he earned a B.A in Music, an M.A in Composition and a Professional Diploma in Education.

He studied conducting with Sebastien Petiet, harmony and counterpoint with Dr. Patrick Devine, and Flute performance with Dr. Sabrina Hu.

His masters in composition was supervised by renowned composers Dr. Martin O'Leary and Dr. Jesse Ronneau at Maynooth University. He has participated in masterclasses and workshops with Grainne Mulvey, Philip Carty, Ed Bennett and many others.

Paul has been composing and producing since at least 2007, specializing in composition for multimedia. He has had great success in this field and has now a large body of work that ranges from solo piano pieces, to chamber works, electronic music and orchestral compositions.

His music has been performed by soloists, ensembles and bands across Ireland, and around the world including the U.S, Asia and South America.

His music has won dozens of awards at film festivals in cities around the world including Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Dehli and Dada Saheb Phalke.

He is represented by the Irish Composers Collective and BMI, and is currently working as a freelance composer, arranger, producer and performer.
